The house

Our property is an old farm house in the Bresse region. It has four rooms (living room also used as the entrance), a dining room with an American kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom and a study.

We have built the three guest rooms on the ground floor and one on the top floor in the old barn and sheepfold adjoined to the house.

There is a veranda all along the terrace.

 Features

The castle: a private estate is  unfortunately not open for visits

The 13th century castle of Montcony was altered in the 15th century. Around 1870, the dwelling was further altered by the Swiss architect Charles Suisse. It currently occupies a terrace surrounded by moats with four large, round, brick towers stationed around it. The two north towers surround a rectangular main building, completed in the south by two perpendicular wings. In the south-west tower is enclosed a 18th century chapel with its altar, retable and panellings. The main living room is adorned with beginning of 19th century panelling and a cabinet is fitted into the inside wall of the tower and is decorated with wall paper. The estate comprises a main building, a barn, a farm with houses and a well. The building is made with bricks from the Bresse region.

The castle was designated an historic monument in 1993.
